The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society AKA Guernsey: Back on with Lily James as Juliet

I'll believe it when I see it. The on again, off again dramatization of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society —on with Kate Winslet in 2012 with Kenneth Branagh directing—then off.

On again with Rebecca Ferguson in 2015 with Mike Newell directing and a newly shortened name [Guernsey]—then off again.

Now it’s on again—they say—with Lily James set to star as journalist Juliet Ashton. Still in the director’s chair, Mike Newell—the man who brought you Four Weddings and a Funeral, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Love in the Time of Cholera. And it’s still going by the briefer moniker, Guernsey.

As I say, I’ll believe it when I see it. Kate Winslet, now in her early 40’s has aged out of playing a character meant to be in her early 30’s while Lily James in her late 20’s physically encompasses the role and shares with Winslet that winning combination of talent and knowing how to rock a white shirt!

Sexy Michael Huisman that some of you lusted after in Game of Thrones has been cast as Dawsey Adams, the somewhat reticent hunka-burning love that falls for Juliet.

The story is set on Guernsey Island in the aftermath of World War II. With filming set to start in the UK this coming Spring I imagine there will be some actual Guernsey locations on the production schedule.

Can’t wait to see if it really, really is happening!
I wrote up my take on the book way back in 2012 when I first read it. It’s been so long I might have to give ‘‘Guernsey’’ a reread!

Have you been waiting for this one too?
Third times the charm.
