Sara Gruen on the Film Version of Water for Elephants

Ology has a nifty little interview where Sara Gruen says they did a fantastic job bringing her film to life. I do think they did a beautiful job of recreating the magical world of the circus in the 1930's! What I didn't like was Robert Pattinson (as I've said!) and the serious lack of chemistry between Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.  Read it here

Interesting that the producers gave Sara and some of her family members 'cameos' in the movie. Did that color her feelings about the adaptation because at heart I think we are all star-struck kids and being on a film set is a very heady and dizzying feeling. The producers of The Descendants put Kaui Hart Hemmings and her kids in the movie too. A film, which I'm hoping, does a better job at conveying the absolute brilliance of the book.
