Chris Pine as Jack Ryan |
Jack Ryan, the upcoming Paramount film based not on a Tom Clancy book but on Tom Clancy's iconic Jack Ryan character has just begun production in Manhattan. And the first photos from the set have appeared online. In the past Ryan has been played by Alec Baldwin in
The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in
Patriot Games and
Clear and Present Danger and Ben Affleck in
The Sum of All Fears - I missed that one. According to Collider.com,
Jack Ryan played this time around by Chris Pine, as the ex-marine, works as a Moscow-based financial analyst who uncovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy. Kenneth Branagh who directs the movie, also plays the film’s villain,
Keira Knightley is onboard as the female lead.

Chris Pines and Kevin Costner in Jack Ryan |
Here's the first look at Kevin Costner, playing a legendary CIA agent as well.

Earlier this year, Branagh put his efforts to make the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on hold presumably for casting reasons . As happy as I'll be to see this one with my hubby, I sure wish he would get back to work on the post-world war two drama set to star Kate Winslet. I have a horrible feeling it will never happen.
