Ack! Yesterday I posted my first ever gif : a black and white image of Meryl Streep and the back of Robert De Niro's head, kissing, over and over again in a scene from Falling in Love. I love that kiss so much that I hate to repost and send it to the past. But the First Trailer for George Clooney's The Monuments Men is too good not to share; so down you come, Bobby and Meryl.
Make way for The Monuments Men. I don't know what I was expecting when I first started posting that King Clooney was producing, directing and starring in the screen adaptation of The Monuments Men, Robert M. Edsel's story of the real life men and women - actual art historians and museum curators - with a mission to stop the Nazis from stealing all the great art of Europe. Since it's such a serious period in the world's history, I was prepared for a wartime drama; I wasn't expecting humor or the approach to be such a charming hybrid of Oceans 11 meets The Great Escape. Or any one of those World War II ensemble movies where we have a motley crew of intriguing types thrown together working towards a common goal. Of course in those old movies the good guys don't all make it out alive.
I love this trailer! What do you all think?
