Lorde is "curating" the music for MockingJay Part 1

Am I just a grouchy old woman? Is that why the fact that 17 year old musical star Lorde is 'curating' the Mockingjay Part One soundtrack hits me so wrong? "Curating"??? What does that even mean? Apparently it means that Lorde is so talented and in such complete simpatico with the filmmaker's vision that she's the perfect person to select the other artists and songs that will appear on the soundtrack. And of course she'll contribute a song herself.

Here's the news as framed in Billboard magazine -

Lorde to Curate 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1' Soundtrack and Contribute Single
"I sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film," Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence said in a statement. "Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable."
"Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” Lorde added about being involved with the Jennifer Lawrence-starring film. "The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”

Oh, she has cinematic leanings?! That's alright then especially since all the musicians have been inspired by the cast and the story. What a load of utter s#%t!! Pardon my French but there is a small, mean part of me that begrudges the already-blessed when they get their double and triple helpings of luck and success. I think of the millions of artists - musicians, writers, painters, singers, sculptors etc - working in obscurity, struggling to find a way to share their gifts while celebrities - our Royals - are given multiple opportunities to shine.

Excuse my bitter venting, and enjoy your Sunday. [I keep trying to post the most recent teaser trailer but something funky is happening on my end. I'll keep trying:)]
