5 Books to Watch in March #book2movies #basedonabook

March 2:
Red Sparrow
We first heard that Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgarton were going to costar in this thriller about a female Russian spy whose first mission targets a CIA agent back in September. We have a new  Red Sparrow trailer. Based on the book by Jason Matthews, Red Sparrow reunites Lawrence with her Hunger Games director, Francis Lawrence.

March 9: A Wrinkle in Time
After the disappearance of her scientist father (Chris Pine), three peculiar beings (Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey & Mindy Kaling) send Meg (Storm Reid) her brother, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and her friend Calvin (Levi Miller) to space in order to find him. Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Meg's mother with Zach Galifanakis as the Happy Medium and David Oyelowo as the It. Directed by Ava Duvernay, written by Jennifer Lee based on the classic novel by Madeleine L’Engle. I re-read A Wrinkle in Time recently. Here's my take on the book.

March 9: The Leisure Seeker
Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland play a couple of senior citizen runaways who take an unforgettable journey in the RV they call the Leisure Seeker. The movie is based on the book by Michael Zadoorian. I have to admit I haven’t read the book. My husband and I, at 60 and 64 respectively, occasionally have the “Let’s get an RV and tour the country’’ like a couple of old codgers so the material feels dangerously close to home.

March 15: Love, Simon
Love, Simon, is about a closeted gay student who falls for an anonymous classmate online. Coming out, and figuring it all out are “hilarious but scary.’’
Based on the book, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, Nick Robinson plays Simon with Josh Duhamel & Jennifer Garner on board as his parents.

March 30: Ready Player One
A movie based on a book about a video game is so not my thing but I know the material by Ernest Cline has its fans. Add Steven Spielberg in the director’s chair, some rising young stars ie Letitia Wright who is AMAZING in Black Panther, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke & Hannah John-Kamen plus Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn & Mark Rylance and maybe I should put it on my list? Watch the ReadyPlayer One trailer
